Rory McIlroy Confirms Return to Dubai for 20th Anniversary Appearance

Career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy has confirmed he will kickstart his 2026 season at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, the Middle East’s longest-running golf tournament.

The event marks a significant milestone for McIlroy, who will celebrate 20 years since his first appearance as an amateur in 2006.

The 37th edition of the tournament, which is the first Rolex Series event of the year on the DP World Tour, will take place from January 22–25, 2026, on the Majlis Golf Course at Emirates Golf Club.

McIlroy, who claimed his first professional victory at the event in 2009, is looking to capture a record fifth Dallah Trophy after wins in 2015, 2023, and 2024.

“I came to the Desert Classic as a teenager, following Tiger and soaking it all in,” said the World Number Two.
