Clinique La Prairie, the Swiss group that built its name on longevity and preventive health, is coming to Saudi Arabia. According to Arab News, the group plans to open specialised longevity clinics in Riyadh and Jeddah once it launches its resort at Amaala on the Red Sea coast. For anyone who trains here, the real headline is not the luxury address. It is the signal: recovery, longevity and everyday health habits are moving to the centre of Saudi life, and you do not need a clinic membership to start living that way this week.

  1. What Clinique La Prairie is building at Amaala

What Clinique La Prairie is building at Amaala

Arab News reports that the group's Amaala resort is scheduled to open next year on Saudi Arabia's northwestern Red Sea coast, with 74 rooms and suites and 13 branded residences. It is built on four pillars, medical care, nutrition, movement and wellness, and it pairs accommodation with advanced diagnostics and longevity programmes. Clinique La Prairie was among the first partners to commit to the Amaala project back in 2018, and its chief executive told the newspaper the group now sees a long-term opportunity to expand into Riyadh and Jeddah with dedicated city clinics once the resort is running.

The group already draws guests from more than 80 countries, with a strong following across the Middle East and the Gulf. What is new is the plan to bring that kind of preventive, recovery-focused care into two of the Kingdom's biggest cities, rather than keeping it at a remote coastal resort. It is a clear vote of confidence in where Saudi health and fitness are heading.

Why longevity is booming in Saudi Arabia

The timing is not an accident. According to Arab News, Saudi Arabia's wellness economy grew about 12.2 percent a year between 2019 and 2024, the fastest rate among the world's 25 largest wellness markets. Vision 2030 has put health, sport and daily activity at the heart of national life, and international operators are following that demand into the country.

For a resident, that momentum shows up in ordinary ways: more places to train, more classes, more walking and cycling routes, and a much wider conversation about sleep, recovery and healthy ageing. A luxury longevity clinic is the visible tip of the trend. The habits underneath it are the part you can copy for free.

What longevity really means for your week

Longevity sounds like a laboratory word, but the research keeps landing on simple habits. The World Health Organization recommends that adults get at least 150 to 300 minutes of moderate activity a week, or 75 to 150 minutes of vigorous activity, plus muscle-strengthening work on two or more days. That is the floor for a longer, healthier life, not an elite target reserved for a clinic.

Strength work matters more than many people expect. A Harvard Health review of a large study that tracked adults for up to 30 years found that 90 to 119 minutes of strength training a week was linked to being 13 percent less likely to die during the study period, with lower risks of dying from heart and neurological disease, and the benefit was larger still when strength work was combined with regular aerobic exercise. The clinics arriving in Riyadh and Jeddah package that idea at a premium. A good training routine delivers most of it already.

Longevity habits you can start now without a clinic

You do not need an Amaala suite to train for the long game. These are the habits the longevity world keeps coming back to, and every one of them is free at a good gym or at home:

  • Progressive strength, twice a week. Two full-body sessions cover the WHO muscle-strengthening guidance and protect the muscle and bone you want to keep for decades.
  • Keep moving most days. Spread easy aerobic work, walking, cycling or the cross trainer, across the week to reach the 150 minute mark without a single punishing session.
  • Protect your sleep. A regular sleep and wake time does more for recovery than any gadget, and it is the habit the clinics spend the most time fixing.
  • Mobilise, do not just stretch. A few minutes for the hips, ankles and shoulders before you lift keeps you training and injury free as the years add up.
  • Use heat to unwind. A sauna session or a warm down after training is a simple way to relax the nervous system, and it is already waiting for you at many gyms.

None of this asks for a resort budget or a specialist referral. It asks for a plan you actually follow, week after week, which is exactly what a longevity clinic charges to design for you.

Build your own longevity habit

You can start the Saudi longevity shift on your own terms, without a resort booking or a waiting list. Pick two strength days, keep the easy movement going in between, protect your sleep, and let recovery do its quiet work. Ready to get started?
