GymNation, the gym chain taking over the GCC, announces the appointment of Ian Mullane to its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

With a distinguished career that spans over two decades in the fitness and technology sectors, and as the Founder and CEO of KeepMe and a member of the ukactive Digital Futures Council, Ian’s experience is going to lead GymNation towards unprecedented innovation through technology adoption.

Ian Mullane expressed his enthusiasm about joining the GymNation team. "Over the past six years, since GymNation launched, I have been immensely impressed with the remarkable growth journey.

Their innovative use of technology and dedication to customer experience are truly exceptional. I am excited to contribute to the board and help steer GymNation towards even greater success," Mullane said.

Loren Holland, CEO of GymNation, commented on the appointment, stating, "We are incredibly pleased to welcome Ian to the GymNation Board of Directors. His vast experience as both an operator and supplier provide him with a granular view of the challenges faced in our sector and how they can be overcome using technology.

Ian’s insight and guidance will be instrumental in our mission to make GymNation not just the best fitness operator within the GCC but the global leader in the adoption and utilization of technology and data within the industry."

Karl Foster, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at GymNation, also shared his anticipation of working closely with Ian.

"Ian's track record in implementing AI for business efficiency and member satisfaction will be a significant boost to our plans of continuing to innovate and lead in our field.

I look forward to working closely with Ian, building on his expertise to further integrate cutting-edge technology into our operations," Foster remarked.

In the wake of the management buyout of JD Gyms at the end of 2023, Ian's appointment and the recent addition of James Wigglesworth to the GymNation board as a non-executive director are both highly strategic moves aimed at bolstering the organization's leadership and expertise.

With 12 new locations coming in 2024, taking GymNation to 25 open gyms across the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and with many more in the pipeline, GymNation is now also actively working to identify a suitable Chairman.

This key position demands a seasoned professional with a strong understanding of regional dynamics and a proven track record in identifying and scaling new locations rapidly across the region.

All of this comes at a pivotal time when GymNation is cementing its position as a pioneer in the GCC fitness industry, driving forward its mission of becoming The Region’s Movement Partner, and making going to the gym less intimidating, more affordable, accessible, and fun for everyone.
