GYMNATION'S CHARITY INITIATIVES

Community has always been at the heart of GymNation. From the Dubai 30×30 Fitness Challenge where we offered free day passes and classes to remove financial barriers to fitness to our Ramadan charity initiative, donating to charities across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain for every class attended during the holy month. Since 2020 we've partnered with Heroes of Hope to empower People of Determination through inclusive fitness and employment opportunities, launching the GymNation Heroes Internship Program and delivering events including the HYROX365 Challenge at the Dubai Muscle & Active Show.

We're now opening the door to new charity partners.

Gymnation Heroes Of Hope

WHAT IS THE CHARITY INITIATIVE?

The GymNation Foundation Charity Initiative is our formal commitment to supporting charitable, community-focused and public wellbeing organisations across the Gulf. We partner with organisations that share our values around health, inclusion and accessibility providing exposure to our network of 200,000+ members, co-branded campaigns, participation in GymNation events, and where appropriate, direct financial donations. We're looking for partners who are making a genuine difference and who believe, as we do, that fitness and wellbeing should be accessible to all.

WHY GYMNATION GIVES BACK

GymNation was founded on the idea that world-class fitness shouldn't cost the earth. That commitment to accessibility has always extended beyond our gym floor.

We've seen first-hand what happens when sport and fitness reach people who wouldn't otherwise have access the confidence it builds, the communities it creates, the lives it changes.

The GymNation Foundation Charity Initiative exists because we believe the private sector has a responsibility to give back and because we're in a position to make that giving count. If your organisation is doing meaningful work across the Gulf, we want to hear from you.

The Charity Initiative FAQs

Boditrax is a medically validated body composition scanner that uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to measure 20+ health metrics in 30 seconds - including body fat %, muscle mass, visceral fat, hydration, BMR, and metabolic age. Used by over 9 million people worldwide across NHS hospitals & elite sports teams. Available at every GymNation location across the UAE (Saudi Arabia & Bahrain coming soon).

Body fat percentage, segmental fat distribution, muscle mass, segmental muscle balance, visceral fat rating, basal metabolic rate (BMR), metabolic age, total body water, intracellular and extracellular water, bone mass, BMI, degree of obesity, and impedance quality. Together these form your Boditrax Score - a complete picture of your physical health that goes far beyond weight alone.

Boditrax uses BIA technology with a +/-3-5% margin per individual reading. For comparison, DEXA scans (the clinical gold standard) are +/-1-2% but require a hospital visit. Boditrax isn't designed to give you a perfect number - it's designed to track trends over time. When you scan consistently (same time of day, same conditions), the trends are highly reliable. A 3% body fat drop measured over 8 weeks is real, even if each individual reading has a small margin of error.

For the most consistent results: remove shoes and socks; scan at least 3 hours after waking, eating, or intense exercise; avoid caffeine, alcohol, and diuretics beforehand; ensure your feet contact all four metal points; and stand still with arms slightly away from your body. Most importantly - try to scan at the same time of day each time.

Every 2 weeks is the sweet spot. Body composition changes slowly — scanning daily will show normal hydration fluctuations that have nothing to do with real fat or muscle change. Fortnightly scans smooth out noise and reveal genuine trends. Athletes or people on aggressive programmes may benefit from weekly scans.

Hydration is the biggest factor. Drinking 500ml of water can shift your body fat reading by 2-3%. Time of day, recent meals, caffeine, alcohol, exercise, sleep quality, and even room temperature can all cause small fluctuations. This is normal and happens with every BIA device - including InBody and clinical scanners. Consistent scan conditions eliminate this problem.

Hit the "Activate Your Boditrax Scans" button on this page or fill in the form at the top, select your location, and our team will get you set up. You can also speak to any GymNation team member at home GymNation location.

Once activated, create your account at any GymNation Boditrax kiosk or through the Boditrax app (available on iOS and Android). Enter your email to register. Log in with the same email and password via the app or web portal. Your first scan completes the setup — all future scans sync automatically.

All of them. Every GymNation gym across the UAE (Saudi Arabia & Bahrain coming soon). Your account and data travel with you - scan at any location and your results sync to the same profile.

Metabolic age compares your basal metabolic rate (how many calories you burn at rest) against population averages for each age group. If you're 35 but your metabolic age is 28, your body burns energy like someone 7 years younger - a sign of good fitness and lean muscle mass. If your metabolic age is higher than your actual age, it's a signal to focus on building muscle and improving nutrition. It's one of the most motivating metrics Boditrax tracks.

Boditrax rates visceral fat from 1 to 59. A rating of 1-12 is considered healthy. 13-59 indicates excess visceral fat - the dangerous fat that wraps around your internal organs and is linked to type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome. Unlike subcutaneous fat (the kind you can pinch), visceral fat doesn't always show on the outside. Boditrax makes it visible so you can track it down.

Yes. The segmental body composition map breaks your body into five zones - left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, and torso - showing fat and muscle distribution in each. This lets you see exactly which areas are responding to training and which need more attention.

Yes, but be aware that fasting significantly affects hydration levels, which will shift your readings. For comparable results during Ramadan, scan at a consistent time each day - ideally 1 hour before iftar or at the same time after suhoor. Expect temporary shifts in hydration and body water metrics. Your fat and muscle trends will still be visible over the course of the month if you keep your scan timing consistent.

Significantly. Consumer smart scales send a signal through your feet only (single path, single frequency). Boditrax uses hand-to-foot multi-frequency BIA - the signal travels through your entire body across multiple paths, giving far more accurate segmental analysis of arms, legs, and torso. Home scales also can't provide body mapping, app-based trend tracking, or integration with personal trainers.

Absolutely. GymNation personal trainers are trained to interpret Boditrax data. Share your results through the app and they'll use your body fat trends, muscle balance, BMR, and metabolic age to build and adjust your training and nutrition plan based on what's actually changing.

Yes. Athletes use Boditrax to monitor muscle mass, segmental balance, hydration, and recovery status. It's used by Premier League football teams, Formula One, and other elite sports programmes. For competitive athletes, tracking lean mass and hydration between training cycles is invaluable for performance optimisation and injury prevention.

Yes. The electrical current is extremely low and completely undetectable. It's safe for the vast majority of people. However, if you have a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator, or other electronic medical device, you should not use Boditrax. Pregnant women should also consult their doctor before scanning.

Boditrax is not a medical diagnostic tool and cannot diagnose conditions. However, it can highlight risk indicators - such as high visceral fat, low muscle mass, poor hydration, or an elevated metabolic age - that are worth discussing with a healthcare professional. Think of it as an early warning system, not a diagnosis.

Yes. The segmental body composition map breaks your body into five zones - left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, and torso - showing fat and muscle distribution in each. This lets you see exactly which areas are responding to training and which need more attention.

Both use bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) with similar accuracy (+/-3-5%). The key differences: Boditrax is available on the GymNation gym floor at every UAE location (Saudi Arabia & Bahrain coming soon); InBody is typically found in clinics at AED 100-250 per scan. Boditrax has a dedicated app with trend tracking, body mapping, and wearable integration. For regular progress monitoring, the technology you use consistently will always beat the one you use once.
