HYROX is coming to Dubai. The global fitness race is confirmed for Friday 27 and Saturday 28 November 2026, and if you have watched the format take over gym feeds without ever trying it, this is the season to change that. Here is exactly what a HYROX race asks of you and how to train for it from where you are now.
What HYROX actually is
HYROX is the same test everywhere in the world: 8 kilometres of running, broken into eight 1km segments, with one functional station after each run. The stations never change and never reorder, which is the whole point. Your time in Dubai lines up against London or Hamburg on a single global leaderboard because everyone ran the identical race.
The eight stations come in this fixed order:
- SkiErg, 1000m
- Sled Push, 50m
- Sled Pull, 50m
- Burpee Broad Jumps, 80m
- Rowing, 1000m
- Farmers Carry, 200m
- Sandbag Lunges, 100m
- Wall Balls, 100 reps
Run a kilometre, hit a station, run the next kilometre, hit the next station, all the way to the wall balls. Most people finish somewhere between roughly 60 and 90-plus minutes depending on their level, and it is non-stop the entire way.
Why Dubai, and why now
This is HYROX returning to Dubai rather than arriving for the first time; the city last hosted a race back in the 2023/24 season. It also lands about a month after HYROX Abu Dhabi, which runs from 23 to 25 October 2026, so the UAE gets two cracks at the format inside six weeks. The venue and ticket details for Dubai have not been announced yet, and What's On notes that entrants can register for updates through the official HYROX Middle East channels.
How to train for it
The reassuring part is that HYROX rewards ordinary, consistent training rather than any secret. Three things carry you through race day.
First, build a running base you can hold under fatigue. You are not running one 8km; you are running eight separate kilometres with a hard effort in between each. Practise running when your legs are already tired, which is what makes interval and conditioning work so useful here.
Second, train the specific movements. Sleds, farmers carries, lunges and wall balls are grip, legs and lungs more than anything fancy, and they show up almost exactly the same in a functional fitness class. Rehearse the wall ball and the burpee broad jump in particular, because that is where a lot of athletes quietly lose minutes on technique.
Third, put it together. Once a week, string a run into a station into a run so your body learns the transitions, the part that surprises first-timers. If you are chasing a target time, a coach can build the pacing plan around your current numbers instead of guesswork.
How to enter
You can take on HYROX as an individual, in a pair that shares the stations (doubles), or as a relay team of four. Beginners often start with doubles or a relay, where the workload is shared and the day feels more social. With the Dubai venue and entry still to be confirmed, the smart move is to register your interest through the official HYROX Middle East site and start training now, because November is closer than it looks.
Do I need to be an athlete to sign up?
No. HYROX was built as a race anyone can finish, from complete first-timers to elite competitors, all on the same course. The distances are fixed but the pace is yours, and simply crossing the line is a genuine goal in its own right.
How long does a HYROX race take?
For most people it is somewhere in the 60 to 90-plus minute range from start to finish, run continuously. Elites go well under an hour; a first-timer aiming to finish should expect the longer end, and that is completely fine.
Want to train for all eight stations under one roof? You can practise the full format in a HYROX class at GymNation and turn up in November ready. Fill in the enquiry form and the team will point you at the right sessions.
