Walking 10,000 steps daily is a highly effective method for weight loss.

While many focus on intense gym workouts and caloric deficit diets, walking often gets overlooked as a fat-burning activity.

Fitness coach Vimal Rajput highlights walking as “the most underrated way to burn fat.”

On April 4, Rajput shared an Instagram video in which he explained that walking 10,000 steps per day can burn approximately 500 calories, equating to 3,500 calories a week or 1 pound of fat weekly.

Walking 10,000 Steps: The Overlooked Path to Fat Loss

Rajput emphasized that walking 10,000 steps daily is a surprisingly effective way to shed fat. He stated, “You don’t have to spend countless hours in the gym or push your body through excessive cardio or high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

You simply need to get outside and start moving.”

Why Walking Stands Out

According to Rajput, walking is an elite form of exercise due to its low intensity, which doesn’t require recovery time afterward.

Compared to a strenuous workout that demands rest for the body to recover, walking enables you to stay active consistently.

This approach allows you to allocate more energy toward lifting sessions in the gym, combining walking with weight training for optimal fat loss.

Rajput suggested there’s no need to stress over hitting the step count in one session. Instead, steps can be spread throughout the day, focusing on moving more whenever possible.

For individuals who can't go outdoors frequently, Rajput recommended investing in a walking pad, calling it a great alternative.

He acknowledged, “It’s not the same as enjoying fresh air outside, but if you’re busy and unable to go out often, it’s an effective way to hit your daily step goal.”

By integrating walking into your routine, alongside strength training, you can achieve significant weight loss without overwhelming your body or schedule.
