Attention, soccer enthusiasts! Saudi Arabia is all set to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034.
Backed by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Kingdom has officially submitted its finalized bid.
Proposed Host Cities
The bid includes five host cities—Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM. These cities will feature 15 state-of-the-art stadiums, 11 of which are brand new.
Riyadh
Riyadh will showcase eight stadiums, including the newly planned King Salman Stadium.
This stadium will hold over 92,000 spectators and is slated to host both the opening and final matches.
It will also serve as the new home ground for the Saudi national team. Other notable venues include the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya and the refurbished King Fahad Sports City Stadium, which will seat over 70,000 spectators.
Jeddah
In Jeddah, the new Jeddah Central Development Stadium is under construction, featuring a design inspired by the area’s rich local heritage and traditional wooden architecture from historic Jeddah Al-Balad.
Additionally, the coastal King Abdullah Sports City Stadium will have a natural design inspired by the Red Sea's stunning coral reefs.
Al Khobar
Khobar will welcome the new Aramco Stadium, located on the Arabian Gulf coast. Its design will symbolize the ‘Dawwama’ whirlpools that appear off the coast during the warm summer months.
Abha
In Abha, the King Khalid University Stadium will undergo a temporary expansion to accommodate over 45,000 spectators during the tournament.
NEOM
Perhaps the most iconic venue will be the NEOM Stadium, situated within THE LINE, more than 350 meters above ground.
This stadium will operate entirely on renewable energy, sourced primarily from wind and solar power.
Additional Facilities
The bid also plans for 10 other locations to serve as training camps for participating teams before and during the tournament.
Saudi Arabia’s bid for the FIFA World Cup 2034 promises cutting-edge facilities and a memorable experience for fans and players alike.
