It's never too late to start working on your fitness, and an elderly woman from Tianjin, China, exemplifies this beautifully.

Affectionately called Grandma Bai, this 79-year-old has become a sensation on Chinese social media because of her rigorous workout routines.

She exercises five times a week, from Monday to Friday.

"Each session lasts an hour, but I need to warm up for one to one-and-a-half hours beforehand. Without it, I can't keep pace with my coach," she told a publication.

Her fitness regimen includes activities like weightlifting and pilates.

Regarding high-intensity workouts, Grandma Bai confidently stated, "There's no pressure; it's quite manageable."

Entering the fitness world due to health issues, Grandma Bai wasn't always this active. She began her fitness journey after turning 60 and has been committed for 19 years.

In her earlier years, she worked in the finance sector, prioritizing her career over her health, which resulted in three surgeries.

Now, with her drastically changed lifestyle, she doesn't need medication anymore.

Her primary goal in maintaining her fitness isn't appearance but health.

"I exercise to stay healthy, not to build large muscles," she shared with Chinese media.

"I believe that the reason older adults age is rapid muscle loss," she said in an interview, adding that her regular workouts have helped her gain muscle and reduce body fat.

"My body fat has decreased, particularly visceral fat. [Fitness enthusiasts] know that this type of fat is difficult to shed," she explained.

If you struggle to maintain a fitness routine, take Grandma Bai's advice to heart: "Fitness is effective because of consistency, not just when it's effective."

In response to a viral video of Grandma Bai on Weibo, netizens have applauded her dedication and physical condition. One even commented that Grandma Bai might be healthier than them.
