During this Ramadan, which offers a time for reflection, community, and celebration, a recent study conducted by New Balance has unveiled that alongside spiritual purification, residents of KSA are also placing importance on physical fitness and well-being throughout this sacred month.
The New Balance Ramadan Fitness Survey 2024 offers fresh perspectives on the fitness commitments, attitudes, and habits of KSA residents during Ramadan, providing insights into their active lifestyles during this holy month.
As a result, New Balance has introduced the 'You Run the Night' campaign in partnership with KSA brand ambassadors Amy Roko and Saudi Reporters to promote physical activity after iftar.
Spiritual renewal aligned to physical improvement.
Highlighting the profound link between self-discipline for mind and body in Ramadan, 82% of respondents in KSA expressed setting precise fitness goals or resolutions for the holy month.
The majority (79%) acknowledged that fasting during Ramadan facilitates adherence to their fitness regimens.
Over two-thirds (67%) of KSA residents said they find it easier to maintain fitness goals during Ramadan, with time of workouts identified as the biggest change people make to their fitness activities during the holy month.

As well as a commitment to physical well-being the results also show that physical activity mainly happens at night with the emergence of a new ‘night audience’ of citizens and residents.
Over 6 out of 10 residents (64%) reported higher energy levels at night during Ramadan with more than half (51%) saying they are most active and opting to exercise after Iftar and further into the night.

The study also found a rich canvas of physical activity preferences of KSA residents during Ramadan with almost three-quarters (72%) immersing themselves in a diverse array of activities including aerobic dance classes, yoga, running, gym sessions and cycling.
Stuart Henwood, New Balance's MENA Regional Manager said “Ramadan is a very special moment for everyone all over the world as a period for enhanced reflection, contemplation and celebration with family and friends.
While it can be easy to lose track in between the hectic Ramadan schedule, the importance of movement cannot be underestimate.”
"Rooted in our running heritage, movement is central to who we are.
We take pride in inspiring individuals to run in their unique way, championing self-expression and perseverance - core values that New Balance has embodied for many years.
Demonstrating our dedication to supporting active lifestyles during Ramadan, we extend our Run Your Way initiative to promote movement throughout this month.
People of all ages are encouraged to engage in exercise and embrace the joy of movement, breaking stereotypes and fostering an inclusive and positive attitude towards running, regardless of one's style," he elaborated.
