Years ago, a young woman faced persistent ridicule from her peers and even close companions due to her weight.
Schoolmates and loved ones constantly made hurtful comments about her appearance, leaving her emotionally scarred.
Overwhelmed by the negativity, she resolved to reclaim her health and self-confidence.
Determined to prove her critics wrong, she embarked on a personal transformation that saw her drop from 90 kilograms to a healthy 65 kilograms.
She shared her remarkable story on the Fitness India subreddit, posting compelling before-and-after photos accompanied by an account of the lifestyle changes that enabled her weight loss.
Discovering Intermittent Fasting as a Game-Changer
Her turning point came in early 2020 when she began researching various dietary strategies.
Captivated by the concept of intermittent fasting, she decided to give it a try. By May of that year, she had already shed 10 kilograms.
By August 2021, she achieved her goal weight of 65 kilograms. However, the process left her with significant muscle loss, which made her feel physically weak despite her leaner frame.
“Started researching, found out about intermittent fasting and gave it a go around Feb 2020. By May, I was down 10kg. By Aug 2021, I dropped from 90kg to 65kg.
But to be honest, I lost a lot of muscle too. I got lean but also kinda weak....” she explained in her post.
From Weight Loss to Building Strength
Realizing the need to rebuild her physical strength, she shifted focus to a structured fitness routine. Strength training became her main priority.
She embraced weightlifting and found a sense of discipline and structure that positively impacted her life.
By committing to a protein-rich diet and regular workout sessions, she gained both physical strength and mental clarity.
Over time, the gym became more than just a place to exercise; it became a source of healing and empowerment.
Adopting a simple push-pull-legs workout routine, she trained regularly throughout the week, usually taking Sundays off unless she felt particularly motivated. Her routine also included 20 minutes of daily cardio.
When it came to meals, she opted for homemade food, focusing on protein-rich options like chicken, eggs, paneer, and soya chunks.
While she didn’t track calories strictly, she aimed to consume around 2000 calories daily and minimized excessive fat intake.
Staying hydrated with 3–4 liters of water a day further supported her progress.
Although she hadn’t started using protein supplements or creatine, she expressed interest in exploring them in the future.
What is Intermittent Fasting?
Intermittent fasting involves alternating between periods of eating and fasting, prioritizing when to eat rather than what to eat, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.
This approach has been shown to aid weight loss and potentially prevent or reverse certain health conditions.
Popular techniques include the 16/8 method, which allows eating during an 8-hour window followed by 16 hours of fasting.
Another option, the 5:2 method, involves eating normally for five days a week and consuming only 500–600 calories on two non-consecutive days.
However, prolonged fasting of 24 to 72 hours is not generally advised, as it may push the body into starvation mode, potentially triggering fat retention.
A Journey of Resilience and Self-Love
Her transformation—from facing ridicule to emerging as a healthier, stronger version of herself—is a testament to the power of determination, discipline, and self-love.
Through dedication, careful research, and consistency, she turned her pain into an inspiring success story.
Today, her story motivates thousands on the internet to pursue their own goals and believe in their potential.
