Move over, Wimbledon—padel is the new sensation.
Created in 1969 in Mexico by Enrique Corcuera, padel was recognized as an international sport in September 2019 and has quickly become one of the world's fastest-growing sports by participation.
What is Padel?
Primarily played as a doubles game, padel is similar to tennis but with elements of squash.
The court is about 25% smaller than a tennis court and enclosed by glass walls, which are part of the gameplay, and metal mesh fences, which are not.
Scoring is the same as tennis, with points going up by 15, 30, and 40. The serve is underarm, the racket is a smaller flat bat, and the balls have lower pressure.
It’s often called padel tennis, which can be confusing since there’s another sport called Paddle Tennis that doesn’t use walls.

Padelx
Padelx offers a unique twist on traditional padel with Dubai’s first floating padel experience near Cluster I in JLT.
There are two premium courts available starting at Dhs200 for an hour. Book through the Playtomic app or via this link. Don’t have the gear? You can rent rackets at the venue.

Ballers
One of Dubai’s latest padel spots, Ballers, offers a large fitness hub in Downtown where you can play football, rugby, do yoga, and join functional fitness classes.
The six state-of-the-art padel courts, framed by the Burj Khalifa, can be booked via Playtomic from 7 am to 11 pm. Rates start at Dhs168 per hour.
Group or private coaching is available starting from Dhs148 per class, depending on group size.

World Padel Academy
Located in a warehouse in Al Quoz, World Padel Academy offers elite padel facilities for everyone from beginners to pros.
Their state-of-the-art courts can be booked for casual games, and expert coaches are available for lessons.
For experienced players, there are regular tournaments. The facility includes seven indoor courts, three outdoor courts, a coffee bar, a merch store, and a cardio/stretch area. One-hour sessions start at Dhs295.

Padel Kingdom
Situated in Al Quoz 4, Padel Kingdom is a major player in Dubai’s padel scene.
It features four indoor courts available for both casual and professional play, along with a padel academy led by top pro Tito Allemandi. After playing, refuel at the Golden Point café. Rates start from Dhs266 for 60 minutes and Dhs400 for 90 minutes.

One of Dubai’s original padel destinations, Padel Pro now operates at three locations: Jumeirah Park, Al Quoz, and One Central. It features 10 outdoor courts in Jumeirah Park, five at One Central, and four indoor courts in Al Quoz. Even if you don’t have partners to play with, Padel Pro offers a match-making service to pair players.
Court rental begins at Dhs95 for 90 minutes if you purchase a ‘5 Match Package,’ with prices decreasing for larger packages. Single hires are also available upon request.
