The 2024 Strongman Champions League in Dubai, held on September 7-8 in the United Arab Emirates, was expected to be thrilling.
However, excitement reached new heights when Hafthor Bjornsson made an unexpected appearance, ultimately winning the competition by a large margin.
Bjornsson claimed victory in four of the six events at the tournament. He also placed highly in the remaining events, finishing with an impressive 72.5 out of a possible 78 points.

Event One — Farmer’s Walk
The competition kicked off with the Farmer’s Walk. Competitors carried two 150-kilogram (330.7-pound) implements over a 40-meter course aiming for the fastest time.
Evans Nana stood out by being the only contestant to complete the course in under 20 seconds, clinching first place.
Fadi El Masri followed with a time of 21.13 seconds. George Sulaiman narrowly edged out Bjornsson for third place by 0.53 seconds.

Event Two — Hummer Pull
In the second event, competitors were tasked with pulling a hummer truck toward the finish line as quickly as possible.
Hafthor Bjornsson not only outpaced others but almost got overtaken by the truck due to his speed, finishing in 16.18 seconds. Kelvin de Ruiter came in second at 16.8 seconds, closely followed by Rongo Keene.

Event Three — Car Deadlift
Day two opened with the Car Deadlift. Athletes had to lift 350 kilograms (771.6 pounds) as many times as possible within 60 seconds.
Bjornsson excelled once more, achieving 12 reps, just ahead of George Sulaiman, who managed 11 reps. There was a three-way tie for third with Nana, Roszkowski, and Mills each performing eight reps.
