Dubai Ride 2024

This morning, the streets were filled with excitement as Dubai Ride, organized by DP World, took over Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai, marking the region's largest community cycling event.

This flagship event of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) saw an unprecedented participation of 37,130 cyclists, offering both novices and experienced riders a rare chance to explore Dubai's renowned landmarks from the comfort of their bikes.

Participants this year could choose between two routes: a picturesque 4-km family-friendly loop around Downtown Dubai, which included Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard and passed by Dubai Opera and Burj Khalifa, or a 12-km route along Sheikh Zayed Road, passing landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, Museum of the Future, and Dubai Water Canal.

The event also launched the thrilling Dubai Ride Speed Laps for seasoned cyclists, adding an exciting twist to the morning.

This new feature allowed participants to push their boundaries, speeding down the Sheikh Zayed Road route at an average speed of 30km/h before joining family and friends for the main event.

In an impressive show of unity, world-class professional triathlete Taylor Spivey from the USA, a silver medalist in triathlon at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and Safia Al Sayegh, who represented the UAE in road cycling at the Paris Olympics, participated in the 12-km course with the wider community, demonstrating their shared enthusiasm for fitness.

Taylor is in Dubai for the first Dubai T100 Triathlon World Championship Final at Meydan, from November 16-17.

Their participation not only energized the crowd but also emphasized the broader advantages of maintaining an active lifestyle, inspiring all attendees.

Adding to the excitement, Dubai Police supercars led the Dubai Ride launch, accompanied by a team of talabat riders.

The event was made even more special with music from DJs chosen by UNTOLD Dubai, while the beloved Modesh World characters, Modesh and Dana, joined the Downtown route, spreading their infectious joy throughout the festivities.

Dubai Ride, presented by DP World, is more than just a cycling event; it blends fitness, entertainment, and fun. It aligns with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, aiming to make Dubai one of the most active cities worldwide.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council (DSC), remarked, “This year’s Dubai Ride's overwhelming success showcased the strength of our extraordinary community.

The record participation reflects our dedication to making Dubai the world’s most active city and promoting a more active lifestyle, enhancing the quality of life for both participants and the community.

At the Dubai Sports Council, we are eager to foster even more opportunities for fitness and community involvement in the future.”

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), said, “Dubai Ride not only captures the lively spirit of our city but also reinforces Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed’s vision of encouraging a healthier and more active lifestyle for all.

This year’s edition was especially notable, with participants filling the streets in a spectacular show of community spirit and dedication to health and fitness.

Cyclists of all ages passing iconic city landmarks created a palpable sense of unity and shared commitment.

Organized by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council, this year’s event was supported by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Emaar, ensuring a safe and smooth experience for all participants.

Decathlon was also present to offer repair services, having provided free bike repairs at its stores leading up to the event.

Dubai Ride 2024 is presented by DP World, with support from The Brain & Performance Centre – a DP World Company, Decathlon, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), talabat, and Emaar as Association Partners; Dubai Chambers, Emirates, and Mai Dubai as Official Partners; and the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Police, and Events Security Committee as Government Partners.
