Equinox has unveiled a gym membership that is taking luxury fitness to new heights, making headlines as the world’s most expensive at $40,000 annually.
According to NBC News, this exclusive program is designed to enhance overall health and increase longevity.
It is part of a collaboration with Function Health, a lab-test startup.
The program, named Optimize by Equinox, is tailored to provide members with personalized services, including personal training, nutrition plans, sleep coaching, and massage therapy.
Jonathan Swerdlin, co-founder of Function Health, explained, “This program represents a paradigm shift in how we achieve vitality and avoid suffering.
While it addresses visible aspects like abs and glutes, it also focuses on internal health, which is truly revolutionary.”
The program begins with a series of comprehensive tests, reflecting the growing market for wellness and longevity.
More people are turning to medicine, biotechnology, fitness, and nutrition to combat the effects of aging.
Function Health's tests cover 100 biomarkers related to the heart, liver, kidneys, metabolic and immune systems, cancer markers, and nutrients.
Equinox conducts its own fitness assessments, measuring VO2 max, strength, and movement range, with tests conducted biannually.
Results from these tests are compiled by an Equinox “concierge,” who uses this data to create a personalized health and fitness plan that caters to the member's specific needs.
Julia Klim, vice president of strategic partnerships and business development at Equinox, compared the process to Formula One or professional athletes, emphasizing the program's comprehensive approach.
"A team of top experts across different fields designs a program based on all the data collected," Klim said.
Optimize membership offers a robust schedule of support, including three 60-minute training sessions per week with a top-level trainer, two 30-minute sessions per month with a nutrition coach, two 30-minute sessions per month with a sleep coach, and one monthly massage therapy session.
Altogether, members receive 16 hours of coaching and training each month.
