Golf institutions throughout Dubai are collaborating to provide a range of golf-related activities as part of the upcoming Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), a complimentary month-long celebration of health and wellness.

In an exciting pilot initiative named Golf Is Good x Dubai Fitness Challenge, backed by The R&A and the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), 135 activities will be hosted across nine locations from Saturday, October 26, to Sunday, November 24, 2024.

With expectations of over 2.4 million registrations for this year's DFC, participants will have the exclusive chance to engage in golf lessons, use practice facilities, attend fitness sessions, try out simulators, and join an evening community walk at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Additionally, the EGF will carry out introductory sessions of The R&A’s Unleash Your Drive in Schools program at local schools and during the DP World Tour Championship, offering golf lessons and a Mini Golf-Sixes competition.

Neal Graham, Golf Development Manager for the Middle East and India at The R&A, remarked, “The R&A is dedicated to highlighting the substantial health benefits of golf by providing activities throughout this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge.

This project illustrates our commitment to aiding National Golf Associations globally in implementing development programs that boost participation in golf, ensuring the sport's sustained growth.”

General Abdullah Al Hashmi, Vice Chairman of the EGF, commented, “The Dubai Fitness Challenge provides a tremendous opportunity to introduce golf to Dubai’s residents, giving many the chance to experience it for the first time.

There are numerous health benefits linked with playing golf, and over the next month, we aim to motivate individuals to include golf in their regular health and fitness routines.”

The Dubai Fitness Challenge, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, encourages individuals to engage in 30 minutes of exercise daily for 30 days.

This initiative seeks to promote a fitness-oriented mindset and a healthy, active lifestyle.

Research commissioned by The R&A indicates that golfers often live five years longer and face a reduced risk of loneliness.

Golf as a physical activity can help prevent and manage over 40 major chronic diseases, improve cholesterol, body composition, and metabolism, and enhance strength and balance in older adults.

The Golf Is Good x Dubai Fitness Challenge initiative was recently unveiled at Jumeirah Golf Estates and receives support from The R&A, EGF, and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, alongside main partners the DP World Tour and Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

Fitness centers across Dubai offering golf activities this month include Dubai Creek Resort, Dubai Hills Golf Club, Emirates Golf Club, Five Iron Golf, Golf Tec UAE, Jumeirah Golf Estates, MyGolf Dubai, The Els Club, and TOPGOLF Dubai.
