In a trial initiative called the Golf Is Good x Dubai Fitness Challenge, backed by The R&A and the Emirates Golf Federation, 135 different activities will take place across nine venues during the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) from October 26 to November 24, 2024.

Over 2.4 million participants are anticipated to sign up for DFC this year, gaining access to golf lessons, practice areas, fitness workouts, simulators, and an evening community walk at Jumeirah Golf Estates for the first time.

Additionally, the Emirates Golf Federation will conduct introductory sessions of The R&A’s Unleash Your Drive in Schools program in local educational institutions and at the DP World Tour Championship, which will also feature golf lessons and a Mini Golf Sixes competition.

Neal Graham, Golf Development Manager - Middle East and India at The R&A, stated, “The R&A aims to highlight the significant health benefits of golf by providing activities throughout this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge.

This initiative exemplifies our support for national associations globally in delivering development programs that will increase golf participation and contribute to the sport's future success.”

General Abdullah Al Hashmi, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation, commented, “The Dubai Fitness Challenge is a fantastic opportunity to introduce our sport to the people of Dubai, possibly for the first time.

Golf offers substantial health benefits, and over the coming month, we hope to encourage people to include golf in their regular health and fitness routines.”

Launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the Dubai Fitness Challenge is a month-long fitness and wellness celebration motivating participants to complete 30 minutes of exercise daily for 30 days.

It seeks to foster a fitness-oriented mindset and promote a healthy, active lifestyle.

Research commissioned by The R&A indicates that golfers have a life expectancy five years longer and face less loneliness risk.

Additionally, golf as a physical activity can help prevent and manage over 40 major chronic illnesses, improve cholesterol levels, body composition, and metabolism, and enhance strength and balance in older adults.

The Golf is Good x Dubai Fitness Challenge initiative, supported by The R&A and Emirates Golf Federation, was introduced today at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

The initiative is proudly backed by The R&A, Emirates Golf Federation, and Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism as principal partners, alongside the DP World Tour and Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

Throughout the month, fitness hubs across Dubai offering golf activities include Dubai Creek Resort, Dubai Hills Golf Club, Emirates Golf Club, Five Iron Golf, Golf Tec United Arab Emirates, Jumeirah Golf Estates, MyGolf Dubai, The Els Club Dubai, and Top Golf Dubai.
