Abu Dhabi's yearly event calendar is filled with a remarkable selection of music, theatre, sports, and comedy events, gaining momentum as the year ends.

Among these, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix stands out as a major highlight, now marking its 16th edition.

Thanks to some exposure from Netflix, the popularity of F1 has surged, making the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the season's final race, a sold-out event.

If you're considering attending the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2024, here's what you need to know.

When is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2024?

The official title for the race is the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2024. It will occur from Friday, December 6, to Sunday, December 8.

On Friday, December 6, the first practice session runs from 1.30 PM to 2.30 PM, followed by the second practice from 5 PM to 6 PM.

On Saturday, December 7, the third practice session takes place between 2.30 PM and 3.30 PM, with the qualifying session at 6 PM.

The final race is scheduled for 5 PM on Sunday, December 8.

Where does it take place?

The event is hosted at Yas Marina Circuit, an exciting track located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The 20 drivers will complete 58 laps on the 5.281 km track, all vying for the top spot.

Why is it significant?

Every F1 race is a spectacle, but the Abu Dhabi race is especially thrilling as it concludes the season, which has reached a record-breaking 24 races this year.

Usually, the champion is already determined by this final race, as points accumulate over the season, but that doesn't reduce the excitement.

Besides crowning the Formula 1 champion driver, the event also recognizes the championship team.

While Red Bull’s Max Verstappen is likely to secure another win, McLaren’s Lando Norris remains a strong contender. Norris is only 52 points behind Verstappen in the 2024 standings, with six races left.

In the constructor’s championship, McLaren overtook Red Bull after the Azerbaijan race for the first time since 2014. If they win, it would be McLaren’s first constructor’s championship victory since 1998.

Who is performing at the after-race concerts?

Concerts are held at Etihad Park after each racing day and the Thursday before the events. Currently, three artists are confirmed.

On Thursday, December 5, American singer-songwriter Teddy Swims and Korean DJ Peggy Gou will perform, offering electrifying shows at Etihad Park on Yas Island.

Teddy Swims will showcase his mix of R’n’B, soul, and pop, followed by DJ Peggy Gou’s energetic set featuring hits like "It Makes you Forget" and "Starry Night."

On Friday, December 6, global music giants Maroon 5 will headline the Yasalam After-Race Concerts.

Adam Levine and the band will energize the crowd with classics like "She Will Be Loved," "This Love," "Sugar," and "Moves Like Jagger."

Further enhancing the musical excitement, the Afterlife Festival, known for its stunning visual displays and vibrant performances, arrives in Abu Dhabi for the first time.

It will take place at Yas Gateway Park, inviting music enthusiasts to dance into the night with performers like Tale of Us, Layla Benitez, Rebūke, and Cassian.

On Saturday, rap icon Eminem will headline the after-race concert. The celebrated 15-time Grammy Award winner and Academy Award winner will perform hits like "Lose Yourself," "The Real Slim Shady," "Without Me," and "Sing for the Moment."

English rock band Muse, the first confirmed act for this year’s Yasalam After-Race Concert Series, will perform on race day, Sunday, December 8.
