GymNation’s new NapTime class is built around a simple idea: if sleep is the foundation of performance, then it deserves real space in a training week, not just another reminder on your phone.

The concept responds to a growing sleep deficit across the UAE and wider GCC, with GymNation pointing to regional findings that only around one in five adults hit an eight-hour night, and around one in five UAE adults sleeping five hours or less.

What's your go-to workout time?

What is NapTime?

NapTime is a weekly, guided recovery session designed to help you downshift your nervous system and make it easier to fall asleep.

It’s also deliberately phone-free. Members place their phones into a secure box before the class begins, removing the constant stimulation that keeps many people wired well past bedtime.

How the class works: 4 stages of downshifting

NapTime is structured in four calming phases, moving from light movement to deep rest:

1) Gentle stretching to release tension

The session opens with slow, accessible stretching rooted in yoga to ease tight areas and signal the body to soften. If you want to build this into your weekly routine, explore GymNation’s Yoga classes.

2) Breathwork and guided meditation

Next comes guided breathing and meditation to settle mental noise and help shift the body out of “go mode.”

3) A curated nap environment

Then comes the main event: a carefully prepared sleep setup with beds, duvets, pillows, and eye masks designed to help participants drift off.

4) Live handpan sound

The entire experience is supported by live handpan sounds aimed at creating a soothing atmosphere for relaxation and restorative rest. For members who enjoy this side of recovery, GymNation also offers Sound healing classes.

Why the phone-free rule matters

NapTime doesn’t just remove a distraction. It reinforces a habit that many people struggle to practise outside the studio.

The press release notes that a large majority of people use their phones in the hour before bed, and that screen exposure can interfere with melatonin and delay sleep onset.

That aligns with broader sleep guidance recommending you limit evening screen exposure and protect your sleep-wake rhythm with better light habits.

Where NapTime fits in a training week

GymNation positions NapTime as a complement to training, not a replacement.

Done consistently, recovery work like light movement, breathing, and better sleep habits can support:

  • muscle repair between sessions

  • sharper focus and mood stability

  • better training consistency over time

As a baseline, most adults are generally advised to aim for 7–9 hours of sleep per night.

Top 5 FAQs about GymNation NapTime

plus minus

What is NapTime at GymNation?

NapTime is a guided recovery class designed to help you relax deeply and fall asleep, using gentle movement, breathwork, meditation, and live sound.

plus minus

Do I have to fall asleep for it to “work”?

No. Even if you don’t fully sleep, practising downregulation (breathing, stillness, and reduced stimulation) supports recovery and calmer sleep habits.

plus minus

Why is the class phone-free?

Because constant notifications and scrolling keep the brain stimulated. Removing the phone helps you switch off and practise being present.

plus minus

Is NapTime suitable for beginners?

Yes. The movement is gentle and the focus is relaxation, not intensity or fitness level.

plus minus

How often should I do NapTime?

Most people benefit from making recovery a weekly habit. If you train hard or feel chronically tired, one dedicated recovery session per week can be a smart starting point.
