IMMAF Youth World Championships Make History in Abu Dhabi

For the first time, the IMMAF Youth World Championships brought the excitement to the Al Ain Region of Abu Dhabi, creating a historic moment in its sixth edition.
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the championship witnessed an unprecedented turnout with over 1,000 male and female athletes from 60 nations.
Taking place at the ADNEC Centre Al Ain, the competition is organized by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) in partnership with the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation.
The event runs until July 27 and opened with a dynamic first day filled with high-energy bouts and enthusiastic spectators. Rising stars from all across the globe showcased their passion and skill in front of a vibrant audience.

A Milestone Moment
For the first time since the championship’s inception, a Youth D category, featuring athletes aged 10 to 11, was introduced.
This initiative marks a significant step in expanding opportunities for young talent and underscores the event’s dedication to nurturing athletes at an early age.
The UAE National Team made an impressive entrance on the opening day, demonstrating their thorough preparation and hunger for continued success throughout the championship.
Supporting Future Champions
Kerrith Brown, President of IMMAF, highlighted the significance of this championship as the largest since its debut in 2019.
“This platform is not just for competition but also fosters cultural exchange and promotes positive values among the youth,” he stated, praising the UAE’s excellence in hosting international sporting events.
He further emphasized the country’s reputation as a global leader in sports, supported by its state-of-the-art infrastructure, ambitious vision, and commitment to empowering the next generation of athletes.

Expanding Horizons
Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation and Chairman of the MMA Committee, reflected on the event’s significance.
“Hosting this championship in Al Ain for the first time reaffirms the international community’s trust in the UAE’s organizational prowess.
Expanding our hosting capabilities to all emirates enhances our sports achievements and presence on the global stage,” he remarked.
He also praised the introduction of the Youth D category, calling it a forward-looking step in developing well-rounded athletes.
“This addition supports younger talent, instills healthy competition, and prepares future champions equipped to represent the UAE internationally.”
With the ongoing championship showcasing exceptional talent and setting new benchmarks, Abu Dhabi continues to shine as a hub for global sporting excellence.
