John Foy has been named the new operations director for IN2 Fitness, a Saudi Arabian fitness chain.
With previous experience in the region, Foy has worked for two years at PureGym Middle East, most recently as head of operations. Prior to this, he served as head of operations for Fitness First Middle East.
A key responsibility for Foy will be to enhance the team's skills to prepare them for larger roles as the chain grows.
Currently, IN2 Fitness operates 50 locations in Saudi Arabia and aims to become a major player in the Middle East market.
In the past two weeks, five new gyms have opened, with an additional four expected by the end of October. Furthermore, 14 more sites are signed and in pre-launch stages.
“IN2 Fitness is the fastest-growing high-value gym chain in the region, which is a source of great pride, especially considering our establishment just over three years ago,” Foy remarked. “Our goal is to become the leading fitness operator in the Middle East.”
The facilities boast approximately 300 pieces of fitness equipment, workout areas, boxing rigs, calisthenic rigs, and Les Mills group classes, along with virtual screens. Approximately half of the clubs are exclusively for women.
In an interview with HCM, Foy noted the robust growth of the fitness market in Saudi Arabia.
“Currently, the fitness penetration rate in Saudi Arabia is about 4 percent, indicating its rapid development in comparison to more mature markets like the UAE.
"There's a rising trend of female participation in fitness in Saudi Arabia, boosting demand for women-focused fitness centers.
We are dedicated to creating spaces where women feel comfortable and empowered to achieve their health and wellness goals.
“Challenges persist, including cultural perceptions of fitness and the need to further educate the population on the benefits of regular exercise.
However, the Kingdom's Vision 2030 objectives of enhancing quality of life and encouraging healthier lifestyles are increasing awareness about the significance of health and wellness.
The movement towards higher participation is clear and promising for the industry's future in the region.”
Owned by Kun Sports, IN2 Fitness was previously known as B-IT. The name change followed a successful legal challenge for passing off by Armah Sports, which was defending its existing health club brand, B_FIT.
