Consistently engaging in physical activities offers a multitude of benefits spanning across physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Health experts recommend regular muscle movement and exercise as vital components in enhancing overall health. Neglecting exercise can lead to various issues such as joint discomfort and muscle soreness.
Furthermore, embracing an active lifestyle can improve sleep quality and aid in combating insomnia, as indicated by a recent study.
Insomnia, a prevalent sleep disorder highlighted by difficulties in falling asleep, staying asleep, or achieving restorative sleep, can disrupt daily routines and induce daytime drowsiness.
According to findings from a CNN report, Dr. Erla Björnsdóttir, the lead researcher of the study and a sleep specialist at Reykjavik University, emphasizes that individuals who are physically active tend to have a reduced risk of experiencing symptoms of insomnia and extreme sleep durations, whether excessively long or short.
Last Sleep Study
the study examined data from over 4,300 individuals aged between 39 and 67 over a decade. The participants, hailing from nine European countries, were surveyed.
The researchers evaluated their 'frequency', 'intensity', and 'duration of physical activity', in addition to their 'insomnia symptoms', 'nightly sleep duration', and 'daytime sleepiness levels'.
The Result Of The Study
It was found that participants who were 'persistently active' were 55 per cent more likely to be 'normal' sleepers with 6 to 9 hours of sleep a night; those who became active over a period of time were 21 per cent more likely to sleep normally, the study said.
