Royal Academy Ajman Hosts CBSE Handball Tournament 2025

The Royal Academy in Ajman recently organized the CBSE UAE Cluster Handball Tournament 2025, marking the largest and most prestigious event of its kind in the emirate.
Spanning three days and concluding on June 22, the tournament brought together an impressive 700 student-athletes from 40 teams representing schools across the UAE, setting a new participation record for a CBSE Cluster tournament in Ajman.
The event began on June 20 with an inaugural ceremony that included the National Anthem, a Quran recitation, and a musical performance by the school band.
The Vice Principal of The Royal Academy, Ajman, Mary Walter, delivered a welcoming address, followed by a March Past featuring the participating teams.
Dr. Terry Burwell, a distinguished leader with over 32 years of experience, served as the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the tournament.
The ceremony also saw the attendance of North Point Education School Leaders and the Senior Management Team.
Over the course of the event, matches were officiated by CBSE referees and a Tournament Observer, with the Chief Observer presiding over the final day to ensure smooth proceedings.
The tournament concluded with schools achieving top honors across different categories:
Under 14 Category
- First Place: Eminence Private School, Fujairah
- Second Place: Metropolitan International Indian School, Ajman
Under 17 Category
- First Place: Delhi Private School, Ajman
- Second Place: Eminence Private School, Fujairah
Under 19 Category
- First Place: City Private School, Ajman
- Second Place: Indian International School, Dubai Silicon Oasis
The grand finale was graced by Sujith Koshy Varghese, a Guinness World Record Holder and Person of Determination (POD).
Sujith, who is the UAE’s first wheelchair user to become a fully accredited personal trainer, also serves as an official fitness influencer and ambassador for the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
“Hosting the CBSE UAE Cluster Handball Tournament 2025 was a crowning achievement for The Royal Academy, Ajman,” said the organizers.
“We take pride in setting new benchmarks in event management and eagerly anticipate hosting more significant events in the future.”
