As the world's elite triathletes gather in Dubai for the first-ever T100 Triathlon World Championship Final this weekend, attention is focused on the series-ending press conference.

This exciting new addition to Dubai's sports calendar, overseen by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, and in collaboration with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, held a pre-final press conference.

The event was attended by His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council; Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE); Olympic triathletes Taylor Knibb and Marten Van Riel; Sam Renouf, CEO of the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO); and Emirati athletes Hana AlNabulsi and Khalifa Aldarmaki, representing Team UAE, to discuss the season-defining race.

The T100 Triathlon Series has been an exciting adventure, showcasing top 40 elite triathletes competing in seven incredible locations worldwide.

The series culminates in Dubai, promising intense competition on Saturday, November 16th (Women's) and Sunday, November 17th (Men's) at 1.30 pm local time.

The weekend also features a Sprint distance race on Saturday, where over 3,000 amateur athletes will experience the triathlon disciplines against the stunning Dubai skyline.

Besides showcasing world-class athletic talent, the event offers a relaxed atmosphere with food trucks, family entertainment, activities, and experiences for visitors to enjoy.

Speaking about this major sporting event hosted in Dubai, His Excellency Saeed Hareb stated, “We are delighted to host the finals of the World Triathlon Championship T100 for the first time, with more than 3,000 athletes from various countries participating.

This championship brings together Olympic athletes and world champions to a final showdown in Dubai, now a global hub for triathlons. Our city offers everything needed for success, including infrastructure and expertise."

"Our annual calendar is packed with diverse sporting events, supporting an active lifestyle for everyone,” Hareb added.

“By hosting such international events, we aim to increase youth participation in global tournaments, providing them valuable experience and skill development.

Dubai Sports Council collaborates with international sports bodies and sponsors to organize top-tier events like the T100 World Triathlon Championship, offering athletes and visitors a memorable experience."

The Dubai T100 Triathlon World Championship Final is a key highlight of the 30x30 Dubai Fitness Challenge this year.

Launched in 2017, the Challenge supports His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to make Dubai one of the world's most active cities.

Residents and visitors are invited to engage in 30 minutes of daily exercise for 30 days, supported by a full calendar of activities and events.

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of DFRE, highlighted the event's importance, stating, “Hosting the T100 Triathlon World Championship Final strengthens Dubai’s reputation as a leading global sports destination.

Taking place during the Dubai Fitness Challenge, this championship aligns with His Highness Sheikh Hamdan’s vision of transforming our city into an active hub.

It enriches our events calendar and inspires the community to lead healthier, active lives while fostering inclusivity."

PTO CEO Sam Renouf praised Dubai's ability to host such events and shared excitement for the T100 Finals. “Crowning our first T100 Triathlon World Champions in a stunning location like Dubai has always been our dream," Renouf said.

"With overwhelming interest from both local and international triathletes, Dubai ensures a fitting finale for the T100 Triathlon World Tour.

Our largest event of the year, it will feature thousands of participants in triathlons and a 5km music run, set against the picturesque Meydan racecourse and Dubai skyline."

Top Olympians shared their thoughts on their final races. Taylor Knibb said, “After winning in Las Vegas, I’m just taking it one step at a time.

I’m grateful to be leading the T100 series and racing again in Dubai.

” Marten Van Riel added, “I’m well-placed in the T100 series rankings, and I can’t wait to race in Dubai. With a World Championship title up for grabs, I’m giving it my all.”

The Dubai T100 is not just for elite athletes. Alongside the 100km race for Age-Groupers, the Sprint race welcomes over 3,000 participants, including UAE residents and international visitors.

Emirati athletes Hana AlNabulsi and Khalifa Aldarmaki expressed their pride in hosting such an event in their home country.

Khalifa Aldarmaki said, “It’s fantastic to have this event in the UAE. More events here mean improved experience and fitness levels and increased participation. I’m really proud T100 is here, and I can’t wait for it to begin.”

Hana AlNabulsi added, “Triathlon requires commitment and dedication.

The race itself is the fun part! Hosting the first T100 in Dubai is historic, and this is just the beginning for the UAE. For newcomers, don’t overthink it. Just enjoy your first triathlon and learn from the experience.”

How the T100 Triathlon World Tour Operates

  1. All contracted athletes must participate in at least five races, in addition to the Grand Final.

  2. Participants earn points ranging from 35 for first place to 1 for 20th place in each race.

  3. The Grand Final offers more points, with 55 for the top spot down to 4, to intensify competition.

  4. The final standings for the inaugural women’s and men’s T100 World Championship will be based on the athletes’ top three T100 race scores, plus their performance in the Grand Final.

  5. Each T100 event features a prize pool of $250,000, with a total of $2 million available across all eight races (1st place receives $25,000; 2nd place gets $16,000; 3rd place earns $12,000 per race).

  6. The champions of the series, crowned after the Grand Final, will be named T100 Triathlon World Champions and will receive $210,000 from an additional $2 million prize pool.

  7. Including athlete contracts, individual race prizes, and the overall T100 Triathlon World Tour pool, the series offers more than $7 million in total athlete compensation, structured to reward both winners and those achieving remarkable feats in the sport.

The T100 professional races are open to spectators at no cost—simply arrive on race day, find a good spot, and enjoy the excitement along with a variety of food and drinks.

Alongside the main triathlon events for elite and age-group categories, the event also features The Music Run—a thrilling 5km fun run that concludes with an epic music festival!

Making its debut in the Middle East, The Music Run welcomes participants of all ages, fitness levels, and abilities, offering a distinctive, community-focused experience.

It’s a perfect choice for anyone looking for a fun and inclusive way to participate and stay active.

Whether aiming for a personal best or just wanting to savor the music-filled environment, everyone is invited to join this memorable fitness, fun, and music celebration.
