The RAK Biggest Weight Loss Challenge (RBWLC) is back for its fifth edition, offering significant cash rewards for shedding extra pounds.
The 12-week challenge runs from February 21 to May 22, with participants earning up to Dh300 for every kilogram lost. That morning jog just got a lot more rewarding!
But this year isn’t just about the money (although that’s definitely a major incentive!). Organizers have introduced a new family category, encouraging parents, kids, and relatives to join forces, get active, and compete for prizes together.
The challenge is open to everyone—you can hit the gym, start hiking, or even take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Here’s how it works:
- Physical category: The top male and female participants can earn Dh300, Dh200, or Dh100 per kilogram lost. Official weigh-ins will be conducted at RAK Hospital at the start and end of the challenge.
- Virtual category: For those who prefer privacy, the virtual option is available. Participants can win prizes like staycations, dining vouchers, gym memberships, and other wellness packages.
- Family category: Families with at least three members can register. The family with the highest average weight loss will win lifestyle vouchers. There's also a special prize for couples.
- Corporate and school teams: Teams from workplaces and schools can participate in friendly competitions, with trophies awarded to top-performing groups.
Last year, over 18,000 people participated, with one individual losing 30kg and earning Dh9,000 in cash rewards. If you’re looking for a reason to start your fitness journey, this could be it!
Registration is free, and virtual weigh-ins can be done at local clinics. Whether you’re aiming for better health or eyeing the rewards, this challenge is a great motivator.
