The Whoop 5.0 is finally here, accompanied by an updated membership structure featuring a basic plan and two premium options that provide deeper health and fitness insights.
Here’s everything you need to know about the latest iteration of Whoop’s always-on wearables.
Two Devices to Choose From
Whoop now offers two distinct hardware options:
- Whoop 5.0: A successor to the Whoop 4.0, included with the ‘One’ and ‘Peak’ subscriptions.
- Whoop MG (Medical Grade): Comes with the premium ‘Life’ subscription, featuring ECG capabilities and beta blood pressure estimates.
Both models are 7% smaller than the Whoop 4.0, include upgraded sensors capturing data 26 times per second, and boast a processor that’s 10x more power efficient.
Perhaps most notably, battery life has increased dramatically to 14 days compared to the previous 4-5 days, offering more convenience to users.
New Charging Options
- Peak and Life Subscribers receive a wireless charger that powers up the device in two hours.
- One Subscribers are provided with a wired charger, requiring the band to be removed for charging, making the wireless option more appealing for upgrades.
Compatibility Updates
Unfortunately, accessories from the Whoop 4.0 are not compatible with the new models.
However, the 5.0 and MG come with new band options, including LeatherLuxe (£99), SuperCore Knit (£69), Sportflex (£49), and CoreKnit (£34), along with the updated bicep band (£39) and additional offerings in their clothing line.
Software Enhancements
Whoop has introduced significant software updates like the Healthspan longevity metric, which analyzes daily habits to estimate physiological age and “pace of aging.”
Additionally, the Advanced Labs feature will integrate clinical lab results with your Whoop data, offering personalized insights and actionable guidance.
Advanced Labs is currently waitlisted, with early access prioritized for Life members.
Membership Tiers
- Whoop One Tier (£169/year):
Includes the Whoop 5.0, the CoreKnit band, and the wired charger.
Features standard health metrics like sleep, recovery, strain scores, and VO2 max. - Whoop Peak Tier (£229/year):

Existing User Concerns
Some existing customers have expressed dissatisfaction with the upgrade terms, particularly those impacted by promises of free device upgrades.
Terms appear to vary based on when subscriptions were renewed or purchased, leaving newer users navigating unclear policies.
Final Thoughts
Despite initial hiccups, Whoop’s longer battery life, advanced health metrics, and affordability with the new One tier increase its appeal.
While its cost remains a point of debate compared to traditional fitness trackers, new longevity-focused features and the upcoming Advanced Labs may justify its place as a leader in wearables.
