A new initiative has been introduced to motivate Dubai residents to adopt a more active lifestyle.

Starting Monday, September 9 and continuing until Sunday, January 12, the Dubai Health Authority and Happiness Challenge will provide 30 winners with a substantial cash prize.

What's great about this challenge? It's easily achievable.

Simply download the Core Direction app, join the Health and Happiness Challenge, and start accumulating points.

By earning 625 points between now and mid-January, you'll be eligible for a raffle where 30 winners will share a Dhs205,000 prize pool.

The top prize is Dhs30,000, followed by Dhs20,000 for second place, Dhs10,000 for third to fifth, and Dhs5,000 for sixth to 30th place.

How can you earn points?

There are four methods to gather points:

  • Steps: Gain one point for every 1,000 steps taken.

  • Heart Rate: Obtain one point for every three minutes spent in an active heart rate zone.

  • Activity: Earn up to seven core points by organizing or participating in an activity with friends.

  • Check-in or watch videos: Collect up to 10 core points by attending or viewing on-demand content within the Core Direction app.

To accumulate points, participants can link to Google Health Tracker or Apple Health to monitor steps, log activities in a wellness diary, or connect a heart rate tracker to secure heart rate points.

For the activity aspect, participants must attend or organize a community event via the app. Thousands have already enrolled in this initiative, which is open to UAE residents over 18, regardless of fitness level.

Additionally, a separate challenge, in partnership with the Knowledge & Human Development Authority (KHDA), will be launched for students in grades 6 to 12 in Dubai's private schools.

Prize winners will be selected randomly during the Arab Health Expo in January, taking place at the World Trade Centre from Monday, January 27 to Thursday, January 30.

Clifford Tindell, founder & CEO of Core Direction, hopes the challenge will inspire participants to maintain healthy habits even after it concludes.

He stated, “The DHA Health & Happiness Challenge aims to inspire people to be active across Dubai. Sport, fitness, and physical activity serve as a universal language connecting us all.

Through shared physical experiences and community leaderboards, we aim to unite participants and foster healthy communities that continue to promote healthy living long after the challenge ends.”
