Younis Khan has refuted suggestions that retired Pakistani cricketers are in better shape than the current players on the national team.

This comment came after he led the Pakistan Champions to a commanding victory over the India Champions in the 2024 World Championship of Legends (WCL).

The first edition of WCL 2024 is organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and is taking place in England.

The T20 tournament, which commenced on July 3, will wrap up on July 13 in Birmingham.

On Saturday, the Pakistan Champions broke India's two-game winning streak with a convincing 68-run victory, marking their third straight win in the tournament.

At the post-match press conference, Younis Khan addressed the perception that the retired players of the Pakistan Champions seem fitter than the current national team.

"It's not true. Our current team is very fit. When a team loses, such remarks are made. We are winning, so people are saying positive things about us," Younis said.

He added that their objective is to win the tournament and lift the spirits of their fans, especially those disappointed by the Pakistan team's recent poor performance in the T20 World Cup.

"We aim to win the trophy and give our fans something to smile about," he added.
