Many residents are finding post-Taraweeh workouts to be an effective and enjoyable way to balance physical fitness and fasting during Ramadan, a month emphasizing both spiritual and physical discipline.

With favorable weather and adjusted fasting schedules encouraging an active lifestyle, numerous Muslims are incorporating nighttime workouts into their daily routines.

From jogging on beach tracks to playing indoor sports or joining football matches, people are flocking to various venues to stay fit.

For some, the beach is the ideal place for a post-prayer workout. Suhail Saeed M, who lives in Al Mamzar, enjoys visiting the beach and park every evening.

“After Iftar, I walk to Al Mamzar Beach, where I pray Isha and Taraweeh at a nearby mosque. I come ready in my jogging gear to start my workout right after prayers,” shared Suhail.

“I usually run about three kilometers along the beach track before doing bodyweight exercises like push-ups, squats, and stretching. My routine lasts around an hour and a half, helping me stay active during Ramadan without feeling drained during the day,” he added.

Others are opting for indoor activities, with sports like badminton gaining popularity during Ramadan. Basit Bafakki, a resident of Al Nahda, Dubai, heads to Cleopatra Academy at Al Etihad School after completing his prayers.

“Ramadan changes my routine, and playing after Taraweeh prayers works best for me.

The courts are usually fully booked since many players prefer evening sessions over daytime,” explained Basit.

“It’s an excellent way to stay fit while socializing with fellow players. We play in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere, striking a good balance between fun and exercise,” he said.

For football lovers, nighttime games at MK Sports in Al Nahda, Sharjah, have become an appealing way to stay active during Ramadan.

Ahmed Suleiman, a Sudanese resident of Al Majaz, enjoys playing football with friends after Taraweeh prayers. “We play for about an hour every night, blending fitness with fun,” he said.

“Since fasting can make people feel low on energy during the day, these nighttime matches allow us to keep up with our routines.

Football isn’t just a sport for me; it’s a passion. Ramadan provides the perfect opportunity to play in a relaxed, enjoyable setting,” Ahmed added.

The rise in interest for post-Taraweeh sports has also led to increased bookings at sports facilities and academies.

A coach from MK Sports observed this growing demand for nighttime slots during Ramadan.

“Bookings have been significantly higher, especially after Taraweeh prayers.

Cooler weather makes it more appealing to play football at night than during the day,” mentioned the coach.

“Many regular players shift their routines to late evenings, and we’re seeing new players join in specifically for Ramadan fitness,” the coach added.

While outdoor sports are thriving thanks to the pleasant weather, indoor sports are still attracting attention, especially badminton.

Adel Muhammed from Cleopatra Academy noted the continued popularity of indoor activities.

“Although outdoor sports have surged in demand due to the great weather, indoor sports like badminton and squash still draw those who prefer controlled environments,” Adel explained.

With various options available, from beachside jogs to football matches and indoor games, residents are making the most of Ramadan to maintain physical fitness while honoring the month’s spiritual traditions.
