We all make resolutions every now and then, especially when it comes to a healthy lifestyle, but we don’t always stick to them. That’s because we are not dedicated or motivated enough to finally make a choice and stick to it. Change can be hard, especially if you are not very fit or very healthy. So, here are a few great tips that you can follow to maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout the year.

Find a Consistent Training Schedule

You don’t have to jump into a strict five-day training schedule every week but find something that works for you and stick to it. Even if you start with only three workouts per week, commit to it and get your training schedule on track. Instead of taking on an unrealistic training schedule, rather stick to something you can achieve, and go from there.

When you have a consistent workout schedule and you are getting used to the routine, you can change it up and make it more challenging – add an additional session per week, add more cardio, or even step up your weight training goals.

Always Plan Ahead

When having a healthy lifestyle is your goal, don’t just go to the gym randomly and jump on the first machine you see – rather plan your training in advance and prepare for every session. That way you can work out exactly what to train and when and set goals for yourself. You can also keep a journal to stay on track.

When you plan your workouts, know what you want to train, how many sets, and what equipment you’ll need. When you are focused and determined, you’ll be much more successful and find it easier to stay on track. Plus, you’ll be able to constantly tweak your sessions.

Don’t forget to warm up; not only will you help to reduce the possibility of injuries, but you want your muscles to be ready for your workout. Stretching allows for an increase in blood flow and an improved range of motion for your joints and muscles.

You Guessed it – A Balanced Diet Is Essential

When it comes to healthy living. you are what you eat. That’s a saying that won’t ever go out of fashion simply because it is so accurate. Your diet will determine how you reach your goals, maintain your energy levels, and fuel your workouts. Plan your diet ahead just like your training sessions and keep a journal of what, when, and how much you eat with every meal.

Stick to the basics and don’t skip your macros – protein, carbohydrate and fat. Eat protein with every meal and plan your carbs and fat intake around your workout goals.

There are many ways to keep your body challenged, but consistent work, a positive attitude and realistic health goals will get you there. You can make 2018 the healthiest year ever.
