Aiming to get Dubai residents moving, galvanising them towards a fitter, more active, healthier lifestyle, the Dubai Fitness Challenge was launched in 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum has called on everybody who is able to take on the challenge and make fitness a part of daily life to get involved. Ahead of the 2021 challenge, which begins today, he made a statement calling on community members, government entities, businesses and schools to take part, as he aims to make the UAE ‘the most active country in the world’.
‘The return of Dubai Fitness Challenge is a testament to the emirate’s resilience and its commitment to rebuild a stronger and happier society by embracing the benefits of fitness and wellness habits,’ he said. ‘When we create the right habits and make them a part of our lives, we have the opportunity to truly transform ourselves.
Dubai, as a city, ‘recognises the importance of physical, mental and social well-being, and constantly strives to provide everyone opportunities for an active lifestyle,’ Sheikh Hamdan continued. ‘All it takes for you to succeed is an unyielding pledge to enjoy 30 minutes of activity for 30 days.’
‘I challenge each and every one of you to embrace your fitness journey and make a difference in your life. Together, let’s make the UAE the most active country in the world.’
This year the Dubai Fitness Challenge will run from October 30th to November 28th, encompassing a full 30 days of activity. It is being held in a socially distanced manner- public health and safety will remain top priority throughout this year’s DFC, with all physical events tailored to Covid-19 precautions outlined by the government, with social distancing being strictly observed, and hygiene and sanitisation guidelines will be closely followed.
It will have the same aim in place as it does every other year, however, seeking to get residents of Dubai and beyond up and about, living an active, healthy lifestyle.
Beginning last year, Dubai Fitness Challenge began to operate Fitness Hubs. These ten hotspots were set up around the city to give communities access to a full range of training styles, workouts and health and fitness education. They delivered a broad range of activities including yoga, Pilates, martial arts and many more, alongside informational seminars on things like nutrition and wellness.
In addition, they launched the Dubai Fitness Challenge app, which contained everything users needed to know about classes and events, alongside trackers and other gadgets to make their 30x30 challenge that much more manageable.
If you live in Dubai, there really is no excuse to not involved in the Dubai Fitness Challenge- it is fun, accessible, and incredibly worthwhile.
