Dubai is streamlining one of the most common admin steps for residents and workers: the visa medical fitness test and occupational health screening.

Instead of managing them as separate processes, Dubai Health is rolling them into one unified track and a single application, designed to shorten procedures and simplify the applicant journey.

This is part of Dubai’s “City Builders” initiatives under the General Secretariat of The Executive Council of Dubai.

What do you value most in your gym experience?

What’s new, in simple terms

If you need both:

  • a Medical Fitness Exam for residency visa purposes, and

  • an Occupational Health Screening for certain job categories,

you can complete the required tests in one appointment through a unified service.

Where the unified service is available

Dubai Health said the unified service will be provided through 8 medical fitness centres, including:

  • Al Garhoud Medical Fitness Centre

  • Al Nahda Medical Fitness Centre

  • Al Karama Medical Fitness Centre

  • Al Yalayis Medical Fitness Centre

  • Bur Dubai Medical Fitness Centre

  • Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) Medical Fitness Centre

  • Zaabeel Medical Fitness Centre

  • Smart Salem centres

Who’s involved and why that matters

The “Unified Medical Test” service is being implemented with multiple government entities, including Dubai Health Authority (DHA), GDRFA Dubai, Dubai Municipality, the Supreme Legislation Committee, and the Department of Finance.

Dubai Health and partner entities highlighted that the goal is to automate processes, speed up data exchange, and help teams access accurate information when needed.

What the applicant journey looks like

Dubai Health describes a clear flow for the Unified Health Screening service:

  1. Application submitted through the Salem portal

  2. Visit the medical fitness centre with required documents

  3. On-site checks may include nursing vitals, doctor evaluation, blood collection, chest X-ray

  4. Vaccinations for certain profession categories (if applicable)

  5. Results notification via SMS or email

How to prepare so your appointment goes smoothly

These are practical, low-risk habits that help many people show up ready:

  • Hydrate well the day before (unless you’ve been instructed to fast for a specific test).

  • Avoid an unusually intense workout right before your appointment, especially heavy leg sessions, if you’re not used to them.

  • Sleep properly the night before so your vitals are closer to baseline.

  • Bring documents early and keep your time window clear, because your appointment may include multiple stations (assessment, imaging, blood draw).

If you’re building a routine that supports daily energy and recovery, start with simple consistency: regular movement, strength work, and basic hydration. A helpful tool is GymNation’s water intake calculator to keep your daily target realistic.

And if you’re new to training in Dubai or want a convenient location, use this guide to find a club near you.

Why this matters for everyday life

For applicants, the biggest benefit is straightforward: fewer steps, one visit, and a more connected process between the entities that need the data.
