Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo and several of the club's top players have extended a warm welcome to Kylian Mbappé following the announcement of his five-year contract with the team.

On Monday, Madrid officially revealed the acquisition of Mbappé, concluding one of the most high-profile and lengthy transfer sagas in football history.

Mbappé expressed his excitement about the transfer on Instagram, calling it "a dream come true."

He shared photos of himself wearing a Madrid jersey from a youth trial at the club, including a picture with then-Madrid star Ronaldo.

"Nobody can understand how excited I am right now," he wrote.

Ronaldo, who is Madrid's all-time leading scorer at 39, responded to Mbappé's post, saying, "My turn to Excited to see you light up the Bernabéu. ⚽️#HalaMadrid."

Mbappé joins a Madrid team that is currently both Spanish and European champions, having won LaLiga by a 10-point margin and defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Champions League final.

Sources told ESPN that Mbappé will earn €15 million annually after taxes, and receive a €150 million ($16.2m) signing bonus spread over his contract duration.

Several Madrid players took to social media to welcome Mbappé.

Before Madrid's official announcement on Monday, Vinícius Júnior posted a "watch" emoji hinting at the news.

"Welcome to your new home," goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois posted in French.

France teammate Eduardo Camavinga shared a photo with Mbappé from their national team duties, while midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni posted, "welcome home bro!"

Even Brazilian forward Rodrygo Goes, whose place in the starting lineup might be at risk with Mbappé's arrival, welcomed him with a series of heart-eye emojis.

Mbappé is currently with the French national team preparing for this summer's European Championship.

Madrid has not yet announced when Mbappé will be formally introduced at the Bernabéu, but it is expected to occur after his commitments with the French national team are complete.
