UAE athletes excel at West Asian event

The UAE national team athletes celebrated a remarkable achievement on the international stage during their participation in the 5th West Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship in Muscat.
The event saw the participation of 270 athletes from 13 countries.
Key figures attending the championship included Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (EBBF), along with notable sports officials from Oman,
such as Al Sayyid Firas Fatik Al Said, heads of delegations, Dr. Rafael Santonja from the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB), Dr. Adel Fahim, Vice President of the IFBB, Dr. Salem Bin Saeed Al Bahri,
Chairman of the Oman Bodybuilding Committee, Ammar Al-Hosni, committee member, and Ahmed Johar from the Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation.
Sheikh Abdullah congratulated the victorious athletes, lauding the impressive physical and technical prowess demonstrated by the Emirati competitors amid a host of international champions.
He also praised the efforts of the UAE national team's technical director, Zuwaid Salmeen Al Zaabi, which led to standout performances, and encouraged the athletes to remain prepared for upcoming competitions.
On the first day of the physique competitions, the UAE athletes achieved outstanding success by winning the championship, obtaining two professional cards, and securing five medals.
Among the top achievers was UAE national team athlete Maher Khalil Al-Badawi, who claimed the gold medal in the physique category over 179 cm and received a professional card, earning him the status of the competition's star.
Athlete Ali Al Jasmi took home the gold medal in the physique category under 173 cm, while Salem Al Suleimani won the gold medal in the physique category under 179 cm, also earning a professional card.
In other notable achievements, Abdullah Al-Khattal secured the silver medal in the Physique Masters category, and Abdullah Al-Bastaki was awarded the bronze medal in the Physique Youth category.
Additionally, Issam Al-Ghus placed fourth in the Masters Physique category, Rashid Al-Muhairi finished sixth in the Muscular Physique category, and Abdullah Hassan Jumaa secured sixth place in the Physique category under 176 cm.
Badawi's championship victory captivated the sports community, with over 1,000 spectators applauding his exceptional performance, which earned him the prestigious title.
Badawi dedicated his triumph to the UAE sports community, his family, and his coaches, acknowledging that their support was crucial to his success.
He expressed his ambition to build on this victory by aiming for future Asian and World Championships.
Similarly, Jasmi, the gold medalist in the 173 cm category, and Suleimani, the gold medalist in the 179 cm category, expressed immense happiness following their impressive performances that left the audience in awe, highlighting the rising stature of Emirati bodybuilding.
