Maintaining an active lifestyle will bring about a great many physical benefits.

However, it can be hard to maintain an active lifestyle. The modern age is set up to keep us busy yet sedentary – always on the go yet hardly moving. Hours spent at our desks, caught in traffic, caring for our families stop us from moving and keep us from being able to ringfence time in which to exercise. What do you get if you pack a full month with a wide array of inspiring fitness events, wellness-focused entertainment and education, and use it to challenge the citizens of a whole city to increase their activity levels? The Dubai Fitness Challenge.
Launched in 2017, the Dubai Fitness Challenge is an annual celebration of fitness and active lifestyles in the UAE.
It is a challenge, and the challenge is simple. In their own words:
‘complete 30 minutes of activity each day for 30 days. Dubai Fitness Challenge helps create a fitness-focussed mindset and inspires us all to seek healthy, active lifestyles. With a month-long calendar of free workouts, exciting fitness events and wellness-centric entertainment, there’s always plenty of inspiration to keep moving.’
The Dubai Fitness Challenge is incredibly inclusive, with events open to everyone and fitness classes catering to all needs and requirements. It gives everyone everything they need in order to complete 30 minutes of activity every day for 30 days: thousands of free classes and activities give you no excuse to sit it out!
In fact, this year, there will be two hundred virtual classes and over two thousand wellness and fitness events, spread over a hundred and fifty locations!
The Dubai Fitness Challenge hosts city wide events and activations at primary locations around Dubai. These include beaches, parks, gyms and public areas. It is open to everyone – men, women, children of all ages, and people of all fitness levels and physical capabilities. There are ladies-only events ongoing throughout the month.
Since its introduction, the Dubai Fitness Challenge app has revolutionised the way in which Dubai residents have been able to navigate and access the Dubai Fitness Challenge. The app contains everything users need to know about classes and events. It also features trackers and other gadgets to make the 30 x 30 challenge more doable, more engaging, and more rewarding than ever.
Committing to the Dubai Fitness Challenge is free of charge and there are thousands of free fitness classes and events to enjoy throughout the month. However, some events may require an entry fee to take part.
It doesn’t end after 30 days. As above, this is about changing habits and rewriting the way in which we all live our lives. It’s about permanent change and committing, long-term, to a fit and active lifestyle.
The Dubai 30 x 30 should be habit-forming, encouraging a full overhaul, a positive lifestyle change for all those who take part.
2021 Fitness Challenge
The Dubai Fitness Challenge is an annual event, and it’s back this year with a vengeance. 2021’s event will run from October 30th to November 28th, encompassing the full 30 days of activity mentioned above. All physical events will be tailored to Covid-19 precautions outlined by the government. Hygiene and sanitisation guidelines will be closely followed, with social distancing being strictly observed.
In addition, online, virtual events will be available for those looking to maintain social distancing, or for those unable to attend in-person.

This year will see the return of the Dubai Fitness Challenge’s Fitness Hubs. These ten hotspots, first set up a couple of years ago, make it easier than ever to complete the Dubai 30 x 30.
