Generally speaking, Les Mills Classes full-body resistance classes (which spikes heart rates- this is how they manage to work participants through so many calories in such a short period of time) that rely on a mixture of bodyweight, light free-weights and plyometric exercises performed at high rep ranges to achieve the benefits of HIIT. This style of training is almost guaranteed to get your body pumped and your heart pounding.

HIIT is one of the most efficient training methods going. It allows you to gain a lot of benefits in a very short amount of time, including:

  • Burning a lot of calories
  • Aiding in bodyfat loss
  • Working through large, compound movements
  • Keeping your metabolic rate elevated for hours after training
  • Building muscle, strength and stamina
  • Improving heart health and reducing blood pressure
  • Stabilising blood sugar levels

There are also a quite a wide range of Les Mills classes, meaning that they can cater for all fitness levels, goals and ages. Today, we’re going to three of the best classes they offer.

Les Mills locations

Taking part in a group class can be a great experience. Les Mills coaches will inspire you to work hard in a fun, friendly environment. They will teach you good technique, make sure you keep to it, and will push you as hard as you are comfortable going (and sometimes even further). In doing this, they will reduce your risk of injury whilst making you a more efficient trainee, getting the most out of every session.

Classes also bring people together. You will be able to go on your fitness journey surrounded by like-minded, supportive people from mixed athletic backgrounds, all aiming at the same few goals. This can help with motivation and can be very rewarding.

There are plenty of Les Mills classes in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Each venue will have qualified coaches to take you through every movement, to keep you on track and make sure that you have the experience you want and need.

Les Mills Abu Dhabi:

There are plenty of choices available to Abu Dhabi residents, with nearly 100 venues hosting Les Mills classes.

GymNation Khalidiyah Mall, Gold’s Gym, Volt Fit Club, Abu Dhabi Country Club, Adrenagy, Let’s Go Gym and Primal Gym are amongst those who offer a full range of Les Mills fitness classes in Abu Dhabi.

Les Mills Dubai:

Dubai also hosts an impressive array of Les Mills classes, giving you several options to choose from and almost guaranteeing that you will be able to find one that’s easy to access.

Gold’s Gym, Fitness First, Fit Republik and Dubai Ladies’ Club are amongst the many venues hosting Les Mills classes in Dubai.

Les Mills classes will help you to achieve a toned, lean physique when combined with an appropriate diet. They are perfect training routines for people looking to dip into tough training sessions without having to worry about exercise selection, planning or long-term programming.

But which Les Mills class will be best for you? We’ve picked our top three. They each offer something different, so take note and decide which one sounds the best for you.

  1. BodyPump

BodyPump is perhaps Les Mills’ most popular class. It serves as something of a flagship program for them. It comprises a weight-based group-fitness class that will take your heart rate sky high whilst engaging all muscles under load, leading to strength gains and hypertrophy.

BodyPump is a hybrid of cardio and strength training, taught in hour-long sessions to a backing track put together by Les Mills International. The soundtrack to BodyPump involves eight separate muscle-group specific songs along with an opening warm up track and closing cool down track.

The workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts, and rows. Participants determine the amount of weight they should be lifting based on their own body weight and strength abilities, though the coach will be on hand to advise them if needed.

  1. BodyCombat

BodyCombat is another popular group fitness cardio workout. According to the Les Mills website, it is “inspired by mixed martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi, and Muay Thai.”

Classes are just shy of an hour, during which participants strike, punch, kick, and kata their way to an average calorie burn of 737 calories.

Like all the Les Mills programs, a new Bodycombat class is introduced every three months, designed by BodyCombat Master Trainers and mixed martial arts experts, Dan Cohen and Rachael Newsham. It promises to shoot your heart rate up, teach you some rudimentary martial arts skills, and improve your cardiovascular fitness whilst enabling weight loss.

  1. BodyAttack

BodyAttack is another sports-inspired cardio workout that is purposed to build strength and stamina. As with BodyCombat, BodyAttack lasts just shy of an hour. It will enable participants to burn an average of 675 calories in this time.

BodyAttack is based around HIIT, and it’s all about improving participants’ speed, fitness, strength, and agility. To this end, it combines athletic aerobic movements with strength and stabilization exercises.
